How to sew a scrunchie 2ways

Hello to my beautiful readers.!! Hope all has been good since I posted last.? I’ve been flat out organising my son’s birthday, now it’s all done and dusted for another year, I can concentrate on another post.

I thought I’ll put out another very simple diy as I’ve seen everyone sell them and I thought I just show you how easy it is, plus you can choose what fabric to use. So without any further ado let’s get on with this Diy…

The materials you with need to make these 2 scrunchies are: fabric, fabric marker, pins, scissors, tape measure, elastic, iron (not shown), sewing machine(not shown) or you can sew by hand. ( if sewing by hand you will need thread and a needle.)

With your tape measure, measure out 18” down and 3” across and cut it out. You should have something like this.

Fold in half lengthwise with right sides together and pin and sew a straight line all the way down. ( Don’t forget to back stitch.)

Turn right side out and iron with the seam on the side. Cut elastic at 9” and insert with a pin until it comes out the other end. Tie if off.

All you have to do now is tuck one end to the other, pin and sew together. And there you have it your first scrunchie.

Cut a two pieces of fabric, one piece will measure 18” by 3”, the second piece 15” by 5”

With the 18” by 3” piece put right sides together pin and sew.

With the 15” by 5” piece fold in half then again and draw a leaf like shape on the fabric with the fabric pen.

Cut out the shape and pin with right sides together and sew making sure you leave a space unsewn so you can turn inside out.

Iron both pieces with the seam on the side. Then cut a piece of 9” elastic.

Feed the elastic through the scrunchie and tie it off. Place one side into the other side and and sew the scrunchie closed. Tie the ears to the scrunchie where the stitches are. And there you have it, you made your own bunny ear scrunchie. Absolutely love this one, I made one of these in velvet and ❤ It.

I hope you enjoyed this very easy sewing diy.? Please let me know what kind of fabric you will choose to make your scrunchies?, in the comments below.

Hope everyone is having a great day.!

Until next time

This is so cute! I never even thought that you could make these. I’m growing out my hair now so I’ll have the opportunity to use something like this.

So that’s how it’s done! I’d always stare at my scrunchies and wonder how they would be made or if there was a certain method. Glad to see that what I saw in my mind was true and it’s so easy!! I have some cute fabric lying around, I might just have to make some of my own! 😀

I like the one with the tail. I used to make oodles of the other kind when I was in high school.
